Are you an experienced Automotive Technician or Workshop Foreman ready to step into a leadership role? Penfold Motor Group is seeking a motivated Workshop Controller to oversee our MG, Hyundai, Suzuki and Isuzu UTE workshop operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your technical expertise with your leadership skills, overseeing daily workshop operations while mentoring technicians and ensuring every vehicle is completed to the highest manufacturer standards.

About the Role

As the Workshop Controller, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of workshop operations, ensuring jobs are allocated efficiently, technicians are supported, and service targets are achieved. You'll provide technical guidance, maintain quality standards, and work closely with the Service Manager to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of technicians and apprentices.
  • Allocate and manage daily workshop workflow to maximise productivity.
  • Provide technical guidance and support with complex diagnostics and repairs.
  • Monitor repair quality and ensure work meets manufacturer standards.
  • Liaise with Service Advisors to prioritise work and deliver vehicles on time.
  • Drive workshop efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant and well-organised workshop environment.
  • Support warranty compliance, technician training and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You'll be a hands-on leader who enjoys coaching others while maintaining exceptional technical standards.

You'll Bring

  • Trade qualification as a Motor Vehicle Technician.
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman or Senior Technician.
  • Strong diagnostic and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience with dealership management systems.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship, safety and customer service.
